Loss reduction
Loss reduction comprises measures designed to reduce the severity of a loss once it has occurred. Where loss prevention targets the probability that a loss happens, loss reduction targets the magnitude given that it has.

Sprinklers reducing fire damage once a fire starts (a prevention/reduction hybrid).
Salvage and clean-up contractors limiting consequential damage.
Limit and deductible structures within reinsurance limiting net exposure.
