Our Barrow-in-Furness sponsorship
What we sponsor
Apex Insurance Brokers is the kit sponsor of a youth football team in Barrow-in-Furness. The team's previous sponsor had pulled out, and for a club run by volunteers on Saturday mornings that was the difference between a season of football and no season of football. The children play in Apex-branded shirts.
We do not publish the club's name or the number of children involved on this page. What the sponsorship is, and why it exists, is set out at length by our director in Why I sponsor a youth football team in Barrow-in-Furness.
Why Barrow-in-Furness
Our director grew up in Barrow-in-Furness. He runs the firm from Bristol now, but the connection to the town stayed. When the opportunity to sponsor the kit came up through a family friend in Barrow, he took it.
His own account of the reasoning is that youth football is the part of a community that produces the next generation of everything else in it, and that the horizon on which a sponsorship like this pays off is the same long horizon he takes with professional indemnity work. That essay is the fuller answer, and it is worth reading rather than summarising: Why I sponsor a youth football team in Barrow-in-Furness.
