Apex — Credentials and Memberships

For: editors, awards bodies, partner organisations and any third party verifying Apex’s regulatory and trade body status.

This file is the single-source statement of Apex’s regulatory authorisations, trade body memberships, and professional credentials. Each item is verifiable on a public register or by direct confirmation from the relevant body. Where a credential is held by a named individual rather than the firm, that is flagged.

When sending this file in support of a media enquiry, an awards entry or a partnership pitch, the receiving party can take every statement below to a register or trade body to confirm it independently. That is by design.

Regulatory authorisation

Apex Insurance Brokers Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 724952. The full FCA register entry is available at https://register.fca.org.uk and is the definitive source for the firm’s permissions, principal individuals, certification status, regulatory history, and trading and registered addresses.

The firm’s permissions cover the activities required for a UK general insurance broker placing commercial business for SME and mid-market clients — set out in detail in file 06 (Apex Company Fact Sheet) and on the FCA register entry itself.

The firm complies with the FCA’s handbook obligations, including the Insurance Conduct of Business Sourcebook (ICOBS), the Senior Management Arrangements, Systems and Controls Sourcebook (SYSC), the FCA’s Principles for Businesses, and the Consumer Duty obligations under PRIN 2A where they apply to the firm’s interactions with retail clients.

The firm’s complaints handling follows the rules in DISP, with the right of referral to the Financial Ombudsman Service for eligible complainants and to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme for eligible claims, as applicable.

Companies House

Apex Insurance Brokers Limited is registered at Companies House under company number 07014570. The Companies House record is the definitive source for the company’s incorporation date, registered office, filing history, directors and persons of significant control.

Trade body memberships

Apex Insurance Brokers Limited is a member of the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA). BIBA membership is verifiable through BIBA’s find-a-broker tool at https://www.biba.org.uk and through BIBA directly. Membership of BIBA is a credibility marker for an SME commercial broker in the UK market and is the route through which Apex accesses BIBA scheme business and BIBA member resources.

[INSERT: Any additional trade body memberships — for example membership of a regional broker network, an MGA distribution partnership where it is publicly named, or a professional body relationship — to be added in writing once confirmed.]

[INSERT: Any specific BIBA committee or working-group role held by the Director, where applicable.]

Professional credentials — named individuals

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is the principal UK professional body for insurance practitioners. Specific qualification levels held by named individuals at Apex are recorded on the CII member register and are kept current on the firm’s central HR record. The qualifications relevant to a commercial broker of Apex’s size include Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII), Diploma in Insurance (Dip CII) and Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII).

[INSERT: Specific CII qualification level held by Matt Bartlett — Cert CII / Dip CII / ACII — to be confirmed in writing before use in editorial copy.]

[INSERT: Specific CII qualification level held by Chrissie Anderson — Cert CII / Dip CII / ACII — to be confirmed in writing before use in editorial copy.]

[INSERT: Any other named CII-qualified or part-qualified staff at Apex, with their qualification level, to be added as confirmed.]

[INSERT: Any specialist qualifications held — for example a CII specialism in commercial lines, claims, or compliance — to be added as confirmed.]

Insurance Distribution Directive and the FCA Approved Persons regime

All client-facing staff at Apex work within the firm’s permissions and within the Apex compliance procedures set out by the Director. The named individuals on the FCA register entry for Apex Insurance Brokers Limited — the Senior Management Functions (SMFs) and Certification Functions (CFs) — are kept current as the firm’s structure changes.

[INSERT: Specific SMF and CF roles assigned to named individuals at Apex, with FCA register references, to be confirmed in writing for any context where the regulatory structure of the firm is being described in detail in editorial copy.]

Data protection and information governance

Apex Insurance Brokers Limited is a data controller registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The ICO register entry is the definitive public source for the firm’s notification status. The firm’s privacy notice, cookie notice and data protection arrangements are published on the website and reviewed against UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

[INSERT: ICO registration reference number, to be added from the ICO register confirmation, for use in editorial copy that names the firm’s information governance arrangements specifically.]

Professional indemnity insurance — Apex’s own

Apex Insurance Brokers Limited holds its own professional indemnity insurance at the level required by the FCA and by good practice for a commercial broker of its size. The firm reviews its own PI cover at each renewal against the limits and conditions specified by ICOBS and against the firm’s exposure profile.

Specific limit and insurer detail on Apex’s own PI cover is held centrally and will be confirmed in writing where an awards body or partner organisation requires confirmation. It is not normally disclosed in editorial copy.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

Apex’s client-facing staff complete the CPD hours required by the CII and by the FCA’s training-and-competence rules each year. CPD records are kept centrally and are available to the firm’s auditors and to the FCA on request.

[INSERT: Apex’s central CPD log reference and the named training partners used — for example sector-specialist CPD providers, BIBA-organised CPD events — to be added as confirmed.]
