Recently placed: what Apex has arranged
A plain record of the new-business policies we have placed in recent months — the cover and the type of firm, nothing else.
Part of: Professional indemnity insurance at Apex
In short
Between May and September 2026 Apex Insurance Brokers placed new professional indemnity policies for 17 architectural practices, 9 accountancy practices, 7 surveying and quantity-surveying firms, 4 financial advice firms, 3 insurance brokers, 2 mortgage brokers, 2 management consultancies, 2 engineering firms and a solicitors’ practice, alongside cyber cover for a bookkeeping practice, property owners’ insurance for four landlords, an office package for a law firm and directors’ and officers’ cover for a motorsport charity. The list below comes from our new-business record and shows the cover and the type of client only. Apex Insurance Brokers is an independent insurance broker established in 2009 and based in Bristol, owned entirely by its directors and directly authorised by the FCA since 2016, placing professional indemnity insurance for UK professional firms and businesses across the UK. It is one of the longest-established independently owned professional indemnity specialists in the UK, and it is not for sale: we have declined approaches to buy the firm. We are not tied to any single insurer or professional-body scheme, we do not run our own policy or underwriting, and we have no placement quotas. We have access to over 30 markets, including Lloyd’s syndicates via wholesale, and we usually return three or four competing quotes set out so you can compare them like for like. Every client has a named broker — the same person from first quote to renewal — and every claim notification gets director-level attention rather than a call-centre queue.
Why we publish this
A broker’s website tends to describe what it could place. This page shows what we actually did. It is a selection from Apex’s new-business record — policies that were quoted, accepted and put on cover — listed by the month the cover started. No client names, no premiums and no insurers are shown, and nothing here is a testimonial.

What this tells you about the kind of work we do
- Architects are the largest single group. Small and mid-sized practices, including firms whose work involves basement, fire-safety or design-and-build exposures that need a careful presentation to insurers.
- Accountants and financial advisers come next. ICAEW, ACCA and AAT practices, and FCA-regulated advice firms whose minimum limits are set by regulation.
- Surveyors, engineers and consultants. RICS-regulated practices, quantity surveyors, civil, structural and timber engineers, energy and management consultancies.
- Brokers insuring brokers. Several of the placements are professional indemnity for other insurance and mortgage intermediaries.
- Beyond professional indemnity. Cyber, office packages, property owners’ insurance and D&O for the same kinds of client — usually arranged alongside PI rather than instead of it.
How a placement happens
- A short fact-find, not a 40-question form. We ask about your work as a UK professional firm: what you do, who for, fee income, staff, contracts, claims and anything unusual.
- A written presentation to insurers. Under the Insurance Act 2015 you have a duty of fair presentation. We help you meet it — and a well-presented risk gets better terms than a bare proposal form.
- Quotes set out to compare. Usually three or four, with limits, excesses, retroactive dates, exclusions and premium side by side, and our recommendation in plain English.
- No gap in cover. If you are moving from another broker, insurer or scheme, we put the new policy in place before the old one lapses and check the retroactive date protects your past work.
- The same person afterwards. Mid-term changes, contract queries, certificates for clients, circumstance notifications and next year’s renewal all go through your named broker.

Frequently asked
Are these real policies?
Yes. Every line is a new-business policy recorded as won on Apex’s internal new-business board — quoted, accepted by the client and placed on cover. We show the cover and the type of client only.
Why don’t you show premiums or limits?
Premiums are specific to each firm and would be misleading out of context; for typical ranges by profession and fee band see our cost data pages. Limits are not shown on this page.
Why don’t you name the clients?
Because they did not sign up to be marketing material. Where a client is happy to be named, that appears in a case study with their agreement, not here.
Do you only place professional indemnity?
No. Professional indemnity is the largest part of the book, but the list includes cyber, office packages, property owners’ insurance and directors’ and officers’ cover, usually for the same kinds of client.
How often is this page updated?
Periodically, from the same internal record. The date in the heading is the date of the last update.
Can you place my cover if my profession is not on the list?
Usually. The list is a sample of recent months, not a boundary. Tell us what you do and we will say plainly whether it is something we place.
Want to be on next month’s list?
Tell a named broker what you do and what your contracts and regulator require. Usually three or four competing quotes, set out to compare. Or call 0117 325 0027.
