Apex in the community

Apex Insurance Brokers is a Bristol-based independent broker, but a broker is really only as good as the communities it’s part of. This page sets out the community work we support and why.

We’ve kept it deliberately small and specific. We’d rather do one or two things properly than spread a community budget so thinly that nobody notices it. Both of the causes below have a personal connection to someone at Apex, which we think is the right test for community work that’s meant to mean something.

Headline sponsorship: [TEAM NAME], Barrow-in-Furness

The flagship community partnership at Apex is our kit sponsorship of [TEAM NAME], a youth football team in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

The team

[TEAM NAME] is a volunteer-run youth football club playing in the [LEAGUE NAME] in Barrow-in-Furness. The club runs [NUMBER OF AGE GROUPS] age groups and around [NUMBER OF KIDS] players in total. Training takes place at [TRAINING GROUND] and home fixtures are played at [HOME GROUND]. The team is run by [COACH NAME] and a group of volunteer coaches, parents and committee members who give their time week in, week out.

What we do

Apex sponsors the team’s match kit. Our logo appears on the shirts the players wear on matchday. We also contribute to associated kit and training costs by agreement with the club committee each season.

We don’t run the team, we don’t pick the side, and we don’t claim any role in their results. That’s the volunteers’ work, not ours.

The personal connection

Apex’s Director, Matt Bartlett, grew up in Barrow-in-Furness. The sponsorship started when a family connection mentioned the club was looking for a kit partner; it became a way for Matt to put something tangible back into the community he came from while running a business 350 miles away.

You can read the long-form story behind the sponsorship here: Why I sponsor a youth football team in Barrow-in-Furness.

What the parents say

“[PLACEHOLDER PARENT QUOTE — TO BE CAPTURED ON RECORD WITH WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM A PARENT OR COMMITTEE MEMBER.]” — [PARENT NAME, ROLE], 2026

“[PLACEHOLDER COACH OR CHAIRMAN QUOTE — TO BE CAPTURED ON RECORD.]” — [COACH/CHAIRMAN NAME, ROLE], 2026

Follow the team

The team posts match reports, training updates and club news on Facebook. Give them a follow and a like:

How we choose what to support

We get more sponsorship and donation requests than we can act on. The framework we apply is straightforward:

If you run a community organisation with a connection to Apex or to one of our people and you’d like to talk to us, please email info@apexinsurancebrokers.co.uk with “Community partnership” in the subject line.

Cumbria connection

Matt’s Cumbrian background is also why we publish information specifically for professional services firms in Cumbria, the Lake District, Barrow and the wider North-West. If you’re a Cumbria-based solicitor, accountant, surveyor, architect, IFA or consultant looking at a PI renewal, our Cumbria information page is a starting point.
